Orlando Health employee fired, accused of wrongfully accessing patient info

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando Health nursing assistant was fired for accessing records outside his or her job responsibilities, hospital officials said.

Names, dates of birth, the last four digits of social security numbers and insurance information may have been compromised.

A limited number of patients treated from January 2014 to May 2015 at Winnie Palmer Hospital, Doctor Phillips Hospital and Orlando Regional Medical Center may have been affected.

Orlando Health officials said while there’s no evidence the information has been used or removed from the hospitals, they want to make sure all patients are aware of the incident.

Anyone who believes they may have been affected is asked to call 1-866-910-5602.
