Orlando police searching for three armed robbers wearing masks

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are searching for three masked men who broke into an apartment early Saturday and robbed the two tenants at gunpoint.

Police said the three men kicked in the door of the apartment at the Goldelm at MetroWest apartments along the 6000 block of Westgate Drive a little before 3:50 a.m. and took the occupants' cash.

Two of the men had handguns and the third had an “AK-style rifle,” police said.

The men pistol-whipped one of the tenants, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

A neighbor who wished us to only use his first name, Eddie, said he'd heard of car break ins at the complex before since his car was broken into, but nothing this violent.

"That's just insane. That's absolutely insane," Eddie said.

Though Eddie said he has lived at the complex for only a few months, he is shocked that something like this would happen.

"I've never ran into any such issues," he said. "You know, never had any problems."

No further information was released at this time.
