OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers heading toward Interstate 4 on southbound State Road 429 will face an overnight closure early Friday as crews prepare a new traffic pattern.
The Florida Department of Transportation plans to close southbound S.R. 429 between Sinclair Road and I-4 from midnight to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
The Sinclair Road entrance ramp to southbound S.R. 429 and the ramps connecting southbound S.R. 429 to both directions of I-4 will also close during the operation.
Lane closures and other work will begin at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, and continue until 6 a.m. Friday. Drivers may experience minor delays as crews shift traffic.
Detour to I-4
Drivers traveling south on S.R. 429 should take Exit 1A and follow this route:
- Turn left onto eastbound Sinclair Road.
- Turn right onto southbound Old Lake Wilson Road and continue about 2.5 miles.
- Turn right onto westbound County Road 532.
- For I-4 east toward Orlando, continue about 1.3 miles and stay right for the entrance ramp.
- For I-4 west toward Tampa, continue about 1.5 miles and turn left onto the entrance ramp.
The work will shift southbound S.R. 429 traffic toward the median from north of Sinclair Road to I-4. The connecting ramps to eastbound and westbound I-4 will also shift slightly.
The changes are part of the Moving I-4 Forward Project 5. FDOT said the schedule could change because of weather or unforeseen circumstances.
