The utility has proposed a water treatment plant located near Orlando International Airport off of Lake Nona Gateway Road. The 15.8-acre site currently is known as the southeast storage and re-pump facility.

OUC started the facility as a water treatment plant in 2001, but stopped using it for that purpose in 2006 after attempts to improve the quality of the raw water at the site led to a lack of sustainable supply there.
