EUSTIS, Fla. — Eustis police want to find the person who broke into a church and stole thousands of dollars' worth of equipment.
The pastor of Revolution Church said he’s not mad at whoever committed the crime, but wishes the person had gone a different route to get money.
Moses Robbins knew something was wrong as soon as he arrived at the church Friday morning.
“I noticed the front door was open and there were some electrical cords on the floor,” he said.
As Robbins walked around the church, he noticed there were numerous items missing.
“The laptop off my desk, a laptop in the hallway and a laptop off the worship leader’s desk were gone,” Robbins said.
He thinks the suspect came through the window and once inside, stole close to $4,000 worth of electronics.
One was the computer that parishioners used to for their online donations.
Robbins isn’t sure if any of the church’s sensitive information will be compromised.
“I know we use some software on the Internet to do that electronic giving. I think it’s all encrypted and protected through that company,” said Robbins.
He said sentimental items on his laptop are also lost.
“My family pictures were on it and are lost forever and my wife is really bummed out,” he said.
Robbins said the church is here to help people and it’s frustrating that someone would break in.
“If they had walked in this door and said, ‘I need money for food,’ I would have given it to them. They didn’t have to steal stuff to get the money,” he said.
The pastor spent the day changing locks on the doors and said his operations will be affected until they can replace the stolen items.
