PALM BAY, Fla. — A Palm Bay gun shop was burglarized early Tuesday morning, and investigators said they're searching for four suspects.
Officers said they responded to an alarm at the A&R Guns & Pawn on Dixie Highway and found the front glass had been shattered.
Police said the store's surveillance camera captured the burglary. In the video, a dark-colored car parks next to the pawn shop around 12:30 a.m. Investigators said one of the suspects jumped out of the car and smashed the front glass door to the business.
"They then left. The alarm didn't go off at that point," said Yvonne Martinez, of the Palm Bay Police Department.
But when they returned about two hours later, authorities said the video shows four suspects shaking the store's bars loose to create a small opening.
"They shoved somebody through here, and they yanked in and the rest of them skinned through," said the business owner's brother, Richard Alexander. "It's ridiculous the crime that has been going on."
Police said more than 30 handguns and at least nine long guns were taken during the burglary.
"Any time that you have a crime like this, especially when it involves weapons, and a significant number of weapons, yes, it is a concern. So, we are going to be working this one very thoroughly," Martinez said.
Investigators believe the men fled the area when the alarm eventually went off. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Palm Bay police.
"I'd like to get everything that they took back off the streets," Alexander said.
