SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford police are searching for two armed robbers who barged into a Winn-Dixie as the store was about to close.
Investigators’ best lead is surveillance video that captured the thieves robbing the store on French Avenue Tuesday night.
The robbers wore white masks and ordered two workers to a back room, where one cleaned out the store's safe while the other stood watch at the door, police said.
Customers said they were shocked it happened at the store that sits one block away from police headquarters.
"It's shocking the way they’'re in going in there taking their time like they're in no rush," said customer Eugene Chislom.
"It's ridiculous the way that these people are acting these days," said customer Mike Shepard.
In the video, police said they noticed one of the men touch the rail in the entryway of the store, possibly leaving fingerprints. Police hope that will help them track down the robbers.
