24 people involved in 15-vehicle crash that shut down SR-417, firefighters say

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A massive chain-reaction crash shut down all lanes of State Road 417 on Saturday night, according to the Seminole County Fire Department.

12:40 a.m. update:

Firefighters in Seminole County said more than 26 patients were taken to the hospital after a 17-vehicle crash on SR-417 late Saturday.

One person was critically injured, firefighters said.

Crews were able to reopen northbound lanes of the 417, but southbound lanes remain closed.

Family members of crash victims gathered at the Oviedo Mall, where a staging area was set up by first responders.

Firefighters in Seminole County shut down State Road 417 after 17 vehicles were involved in a crash Saturday night.

Firefighters said the crash has all lanes of SR-417 closed, with around 22 patients involved.
