POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk State College will host two Constitution Day events featuring state Sen. Rosalind Osgood and U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds.
Both events will take place Sept. 17 and will be open to students and members of the community.
Osgood will speak from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Winter Haven Fine Arts Lobby on Polk State’s Winter Haven Campus.
Donalds will speak from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Room 1100 of the Lakeland Technology Building on the college’s Lakeland Campus.
Food will be available to students who present their Polk State IDs.
“We believe our students benefit immensely from hearing directly from elected officials,” Polk State President Anastasios Kamoutsas said. “Constitution Day offers a vital opportunity to reaffirm the importance of civic engagement, especially for our students who represent the next generation of leaders in Florida.”
The college said the speakers will discuss the Constitution’s role in shaping public policy and American society. Polk State described the events as a thoughtful, nonpartisan setting for civic engagement.
The events are part of Kamoutsas’ “Where Eagles Soar” initiative and coincide with the country’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
