Some Orange County residents still seeing impacts from Hurricane Ian

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Some Orange County residents hit hard by Hurricane Ian called out county leaders on Tuesday for not doing enough to help them recover.

Homeowners in the Orlo Vista area of west Orange County told commissioners that debris still litters some streets and they still can’t live in their homes.

Neighbors brought their concerns to county commissioners, saying they can’t afford the thousands it would cost to clean up on their own.

“The issues associated with Orlovista are very, very complex issues in terms of who has insurance, whether FEMA will be involved,” Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said.

Orange County crews have started building ponds and pump stations to prevent flooding that’s expected to be done by 2024.
