LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — A Sumatran tiger who has called Disney’s Animal Kingdom home since birth is getting ready for a new adventure.
Disney said Bakso, who recently celebrated his second birthday, will leave Animal Kingdom later this fall and move to another Association of Zoos & Aquariums-accredited zoo.
Bakso was born at Animal Kingdom in September 2024 to tigers Sohni and Conrad and made his public debut in January 2025.
Disney said the move is part of a recommendation from the AZA Species Survival Plan, which coordinates care and breeding efforts for endangered species.
According to Disney, fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild, and Bakso could eventually father cubs as part of conservation efforts.
Guests can still see Bakso at the Maharajah Jungle Trek before he leaves Animal Kingdom later this fall.
