1 dead after 5-car crash shuts down stretch of John Young Parkway

A multicar crash shutdown a stretch of John Young Parkway early Wednesday morning.


Troopers said the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on John Young Parkway near Blackstone Drive.

The crash caused the northbound lanes of John Young Parkway near Central Florida Parkway to close.

Video from the scene shows five cars damaged after they collided. Troopers said the passenger, a 62-year-old Orlando woman, died in the crash.

Channel 9 traffic anchor Alexa Lorenzo said someone was taken out of a car with hydraulic rescue tools.

One person died in the crash. Several others were taken to a hospital.

Troopers said due to the complexity of the crash and the number of vehicles involved, the crash remains under investigation.
