Travelers from the United Kingdom get ready to return to Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — The White House recently announced plans to ease travel restrictions for international visitors to the United States.

That means the return of international tourists to Central Florida.

Orlando has been the number one destination for U.K. travelers for decades.

“The U.K. is our number one overseas market and it means big business for our community and creation of jobs,” said Visit Orlando’s Cassendra Matej.

For the past few decades, more than 2 million visitors per year come from the U.K. to Central Florida for a much-anticipated holiday.

“People do save up in order to have their big summer holiday here. Families look forward to it. The children want to come to the theme parks,” British Consul General Nicolette Brent said.

International visitors will be subject to vaccinations, testing and contact tracing requirements.

“It’s going to mean that our hotels will be thriving, it will mean that people who work around the hospitality industry are going to be back working. They will be better able to take care of their families,” said Orange County mayor Jerry Demings.

Visit Orlando emphasized that this is a different time and there will be some changes made. Many restaurants and park now require reservations. Vaccination and testing requirements will be strictly adhered to.
