ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Markeith Loyd’s second murder trial continued on Monday.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Loyd in the fatal shooting of Lt. Debra Clayton in 2017. At the time, Loyd was on the run for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon.
He was sentenced to life in prison for Dixon’s murder.
Loyd cried in court on Monday as an expert discussed the bullet holes in Clayton’s vest.
So overcome, he turned to her widower, Seth Clayton, saying, “It told you I didn’t try to kill your wife, bro.”
Following the comment, the judge removed Loyd from the courtroom.
