ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to be short-lived, with forecasters anticipating the system will weaken as it approaches the Leeward Islands this weekend.
While Dolly is not expected to have a significant impact on Central Florida, portions of the Caribbean could see periods of heavy rain this weekend.
For some islands, including Puerto Rico, the rainfall could be beneficial. Puerto Rico is currently dealing with extreme drought conditions, making any additional rainfall especially valuable.
Despite the potential for locally heavy rain, Dolly is expected to fizzle out before it can become a significant threat to the region.
As for Central Florida, there are currently no impacts expected from Dolly.
Outside of Dolly, the rest of the tropical Atlantic remains relatively quiet, with no other significant systems being closely watched at this time.
Residents across Central Florida can continue to monitor the forecast, but there is currently no reason for local residents to be concerned about Tropical Storm Dolly.
