VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Several changes to Volusia County’s public transit system will take effect Oct. 4, including schedule adjustments, a new express route, and the discontinuation of some bus services.
The changes were approved by the Volusia County Council in June. Transit staff will be available at transit centers and on affected routes to assist riders before and after the transition.
Among the changes:
- Routes 3, 7, 12, 17, 19, 30, and 40 will see minor schedule adjustments.
- Route 8 will depart the Transfer Plaza at 35 minutes past the hour.
- Route 31 will no longer enter Market Place Shopping Center and will instead remain on Saxon Boulevard.
- Route 60 will have schedule changes and the elimination of two weekday trips.
The county is also launching a new Route 61X, which will provide limited-stop service between Daytona Beach and DeLand via Interstate 4.
Meanwhile, Routes 33 and 70 will be discontinued, with service replaced by the county’s on-demand VoRide program.
Additional Sunday changes include:
- Routes 3, 4, 10 and 15 being replaced by VoRide service.
- Route 60 operates hourly between the Transfer Plaza and the Volusia County Branch Jail.
- A new Sunday VoRide zone serving areas previously covered by the discontinued routes.
County officials say the service adjustments are intended to improve efficiency and better match rider demand. Riders are encouraged to review the updated schedules before Oct. 4.
