VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — An investigation is underway in New Smyrna Beach after a person was shot by a deputy.
According to a tweet from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the subject was shot and injured on Sunday after “advancing towards a deputy.”

Deputies said they were responding to a call about an armed person threatening others at 3946 Lakeshore Drive.
The person shot was stabilized and transported to the hospital.

The sheriff’s office stated that more information would be provided in a future update Sunday evening and a briefing on Monday.
The subject of a call about an armed person threatening others at 3946 Lakeshore Drive, NSB, was shot & injured today after advancing toward a deputy. The subject was stabilized and transported for treatment of his injuries. More information will be provided in a future update.
