Daytona Beach residents say speeding drivers are crashing into homes in their neighborhood

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — People living in a Daytona Beach neighborhood are in fear of drivers smashing into their homes.

Residents said changes need to be made to protect their properties and their families.

There have been several crashes and neighbors are blaming speeding drivers for all the damage.

Homeowners said drivers are speeding down Caroline Street and Magnolia Avenue.

They are using it as a cut through from International Speedway Boulevard to Orange Avenue.

The roadway is by Campbell Middle School.

One house in the area has actually been hit twice in the last six months.

The homeowner said they are not even moved in yet, but a car already hit their garage last week.

Some neighbors told Chanel 9 they will not let their children play in the front yard because of cars speeding through that have crashed into homes.

The Daytona Beach Police Department is looking into the speeding claims and will need to evaluate and monitor the area to see what can be done.

City officials also discussed having staff come out to see what could be done and then developing a plan from there.
