Some signs still got swept up in the ocean as the high tide reached the dunes and ramps on some parts of the beach.

The cooler weather along with it being the off-season for the area meant mostly locals were out checking on the waves.

Volusia County Beach Safety spent the morning assessing the coastline and had to temporarily close one of its bathrooms due to some damage.

Captain Tammy Malphurs told Channel 9 it’s likely we will see some erosion along the coast, which she says may actually be beneficial.

“If we get a little bit of erosion that won’t be bad. We have those soft sand issues we’ve been dealing with for the last few months. Hopefully, this will take care of that,” Malphurs said.
