VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two Volusia County public libraries are closing temporarily this week after one of their employees died this weekend.
Officials in Volusia County said the DeLand Regional Library was closed Sunday and will remain closed Monday after the death of library assistant Sara Morales.
Officials said Morales “died tragically” on Sunday but did not give a cause of her death.
According to a GoFundMe page, Morales was shot Saturday in a road rage incident, but law enforcement has not confirmed those details.
The Orange City Police Department is investigating Morales’ death.
The Pierson Public Library will also be closed Monday through Wednesday to help Morales’ co-workers cope with her tragic death.
Channel 9 will continue to monitor this incident and will provide continuing coverage on Eyewitness News.
