Stormy weather: These local water parks will be closed today

ORLANDO, Fla. — If your weekend plans included some slipping and sliding at area water parks, put the brakes on your raft.

Thanks to unfavorable weather, Central Florida’s theme park giants announced the closures of their water resorts.

Universal Orlando said Volcano Bay will be closed Friday.

The resort directed guests wanting to splash around in something other than rain to stay tuned to its social media channels and provided a phone number for updates.

Online calendars for Disney’s Blizzard Beach and SeaWorld’s Aquatic also confirmed Friday closures.

Additionally, no operating hours were available for Blizzard Beach on Saturday.

Channel 9 meteorologist Brian Shields said the weather on Saturday and Sunday could best be compared to a tropical storm.
