WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — A recreation supervisor was arrested Friday on multiple child pornography charges, the city of West Melbourne said in a news release.

Daniel Hatcher was suspended Friday morning without pay, ordered to stay off city property and had his employee access to city facilities revoked until the city completes its own administrative investigation.

“Until yesterday evening, when Brevard County Sheriff’s Office personnel requested City property that might assist in the Sheriff’s investigation, the City was unaware of any allegations of this nature,” the city stated in a news release. “The City is cooperating fully and completely with the Sheriff’s Office to provide any and all information that might be of use in their continuing criminal investigation.”

Hatcher was hired in August 2018 to work operations of the city’s new skate park. A background screening conducted by the city “did not turn up any indication of the kind of behavior that is alleged in his arrest warrant,” the city said in a news release.

“The seriousness of the charges cannot be overstated,” the city continued in the news release. “Regardless of the results of the criminal complaint, the City is pursuing our own administrative investigation regarding the arrestee’s future employment.”
