WINTER PARK, Fla. — A Florida couple remains committed to flying to space as tourists aboard Virgin Galactic in spite of the company's recent fatal test flight in California.
Sharon and Marc Hagle of Winter Park bought $200,000 tickets in 2007 to fly about 62 miles above the Earth's surface.
Sharon Hagle said they are not discouraged by the Oct. 31 crash of Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo in the Mojave Desert.
Pilot Peter Siebold survived, but co-pilot Mike Alsbury died.
Hagle said both will be "etched forever in our minds as heroes who took the risk for all of us and future generations."
Hagle said she and her husband understand that "with every great adventure, there are risks."
Virgin Galactic wants to resume test flights as early as next summer.
