WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Three years ago, a then pregnant Winter Garden mother survived being kidnapped and held hostage in her home.
On Tuesday, she was the key witness in determining the sentences for two of her attackers.
However, the court postponed sentencing until Wednesday, WFTV learned.
A jury found Victor Sanchez guilty earlier this year, while his cousin Miguel Santiz took a plea deal.
The victim, Marcela Borges, took the stand and talked about how her son is still traumatized nearly three years later.
"He doesn't feel secure to play outside. He doesn't go outside. He stays most of his time inside house. He cannot hear anybody speak Spanish because what he says is "bad guys," said Borges.
Borges' son was 5 years old when Santiz, Sanchez and two others burst into their home.
Borges was pistol-whipped and her husband beaten.
Her son was tortured with Russian roulette.
The family was held hostage for three days as the gang bilked them of their life savings.
Borges testified during the trial that she thought for sure they'd be killed, so she launched herself out a second-story window.
She was shot two times as she ran for help, but she was able to alert police and everyone in the family made it out alive.
Investigators said a woman, Bianca Dos Santos, hatched the plot after getting a hold of the father's financial documents through her mother's business.
Dos Santos remains at large.
The fourth member of the group, Oscar Diaz Hernandez, is set to go on trial later this month.
Both men face life in prison.
