ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — A search committee will meet Wednesday to work on finding a new leader for the troubled Workforce Central Florida
That new leader could have a brand new controversy to deal with. WFTV found out the agency has $1 million worth of computers locked away in a storage unit.
Interim Director Kevin Neal recently discovered 950 working computers. Workforce stored those computers last year when it spent $1 million on new ones.
The computers in storage were bought in 2006, but there is no evidence they were ever approved.
"This is another example of some past decisions that may not have been well thought out," said Neal.
State investigators are looking into the purchase.
The agency is now working on a plan to donate the computers to local libraries or other nonprofits that are geared to helping people find jobs.
