Mohawk-Woman Makes Bomb Threat During Robbery

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A woman with a mohawk has been robbing businesses without ever showing a gun, police said Friday. So far, she's hit two places in Belleview and in both cases, she made an unusual threat to get what she wanted.

Police said the woman didn't show anyone any type of explosive device, but threatened to blow up a Belleview business if she didn't get $50.

Belleview police can't remember anyone ever holding up a business by bomb threat. They say that Is what the woman did early Thursday morning at Bumpers Pub off of Highway 441.

The petite suspect has a unique haircut; a mohawk. In each instance, the suspect made her first stop the restroom. When she exited, she would approach an employee and told them she planted a bomb and the only way to keep it from going off, was to give up some cash.

"The only thing I thought of is get this woman out of here, do what I have to do. Don't put myself in harm, don't put my customers in harm," eyewitness Melissa Berg said.

As soon as the robber got her $50, she was gone. Three hours later, she showed up at Lassie's Restaurant with another bomb threat and a demand of $40, but left empty-handed.

Police believe she ended up at a Walgreens off HWY- 441 in a white, late-model Buick. There was no bomb threat, just some profanity before a hasty exit.

"Her suspicious behavior alerted them and they called us and we were able to tie it into the other two incidents," said Sgt. Ray Dwyer of the Belleview Police Department.

Police quickly distributed a description of the suspect and her vehicle to other area businesses.

"I just thought that's a sign of the times, really," restaurant employee April Cecil said.

Belleview said if they are able to identify suspect in the case, she'll likely be charged with making a bomb threat and armed robbery.
