Cameron Ray, 20, died shortly after an altercation near a Dallas bar on March 18, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Tivione English, 21, and Aries Jones, 28, both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, were arrested and each face a murder charge in connection with Ray’s death, the newspaper reported. Both men surrendered to police and were taken to the Dallas County Jail, according to The Athletic.

Jones’ bail was set at $250,000, WFAA-TV reported. English’s bond had not been set yet.

Joseph’s attorney, Barry Sorrels, said on Friday that the Cowboys’ defensive back was a passenger in a vehicle from which gunshots were fired, but he was not the shooter, ESPN reported.

”Kelvin Joseph did not kill Cameron Ray,” Sorrels said in a statement. “(Kelvin) found himself in a situation that escalated without his knowledge or consent.”

Police said Joseph, 21, and Ray were out with separate groups of friends early on March 18 when a short fight broke out between the groups outside OT Tavern, the Morning News reported. After the fight ended, English and Jones entered a black SUV parked nearby.

After the fight broke up, police said English and Jones got into a black SUV parked nearby. Polices said that as Ray and his friends were walking, the SUV drove by and people inside shot at the other group, according to the newspaper.

Ray, who was struck in the head, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

In video footage of the fight obtained by KDFW-TV, one of the people involved in the altercation was wearing a YKDV necklace. Joseph goes by the rap name “YKDV Bossman Fat,” according to ESPN.

The Cowboys said in a statement Friday that the organization was aware of the incident.

“First and foremost, our hearts go out to Mr. Ray’s family and loved ones,” the team said. “The organization is aware of Kelvin Joseph’s possible connection to this incident. We are in contact with Dallas law enforcement and have alerted the NFL office. We have no further comment at this time.”

Joseph has not been arrested, the Morning News reported. Police have not said whether they plan to seek charges against him or anyone else. Texas’ law of parties could mean that anyone in the SUV at the time of the shooting could face the same charges as the gunmen.

Joseph started his college career at LSU before playing at Kentucky. He was a second-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL draft.

Joseph played in 16 games and had 13 solo tackles and two passes defended.
