LINCOLN, Neb. — Two people died, and 19 others were injured late Sunday when two cars collided and careened into a crowd of bystanders in Lincoln, Nebraska.
According to Lincoln police, a black Ford Taurus was traveling westbound when it struck an eastbound white Toyota Corolla at around 10:45 p.m. local time.
“We do not believe nor is there any evidence this was an intentional act,” Lincoln police said in a prepared statement.

Capt. Max Hubka, with the Lincoln Police Department, confirmed to KETV that both vehicles careened onto the sidewalk, striking numerous pedestrians.
The crowd had gathered for Americruise, an unofficial annual classic car show in which drivers flock to Lincoln during the Memorial Day weekend to show off their cars by cruising the city’s streets, NBC News reported.
One victim is listed in critical condition, while others sustained non-life-threatening injuries, KOLN reported.
Meanwhile, officials with two area hospitals confirmed to KETV that they accepted a total of 20 patients following the crash, one who suffered critical injuries, one who suffered serious injuries and two who were listed in good condition Monday. The other patients were treated and released.
Police also confirmed via Twitter that the two people who died were both women. Those victims’ names have not been released, but officials confirmed during a Monday morning news conference that both were traveling in the same vehicle.
