HOUSTON — An Amazon driver found a baby that was apparently abandoned after a carjacking.
As police were responding to a call about a stolen car and kidnapping Monday, a surveillance video shows a man leave a baby in a car seat on the side of the road about a mile away, KTRK reported.
Moments later, delivery driver Juan Carlos Flores saw the infant, knew something was awry and found the nearest homeowner for help.
“When I saw that baby, I wanted to cry,” Flores said. “How could someone have a heart to leave the child on the side of the road?”
The homeowner brought the baby inside and called police. Flores continued on his route, but when he saw more police nearby he helped lead them to the baby, who had been reported missing.
More officers arrived shortly later and were able to reunite the child and mother.
Investigators are still searching for the man who dropped off the child, who is believed to also be the suspect in the carjacking, the Houston Chronicle reported.
