Britney Spears turned 40 on Thursday, but the pop singer said she still feels young.
Spears posted photos and videos of herself and fiancé Sam Asghari on social media, adopting a jubilant tone.
“Oh, the precious joy today,” Spears wrote in an Instagram post. “Me and my fiancé are so excited to be going away …. as you can see I’m not 800 pounds like the paps have me in pics.
“I’ve been working out and it’s real … God thank you for being able to go out of the country. I am blessed.”
For the first time since 2008, Spears is free from the conservatorship held by her father for 13 years.
On Nov. 12, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of ending the conservatorship that controlled Spears’ finances and life.
The singer’s father, James “Jamie” Spears, filed a petition in September seeking an end to the conservatorship weeks after he agreed to step down as her financial conservator.
Spears and Asghari officially announced their engagement on Sept. 12 after four years of dating in a pair of Instagram posts.
For Spears’ birthday, Asghari shared a series of photos on Instagram of himself with Spears, declaring that he admired her “relentless strength.”
“I call you Lioness because I admire your relentless strength, I’m inspired by your beautiful heart, I celebrate your smile that lights up my world,” Asghari, 27, wrote on Wednesday. “Everyday is your birthday my queen. Happy 1st birthday to my wife.”
In the week leading up to her birthday, Spears posted a video of herself modeling several outfits while appearing in front of a Christmas tree, CNN reported.
She tried on multiple outfits in a reel, appearing in front of a huge Christmas tree while she tried on festive dresses.
“Fashion and festivities ... guess what???? My b-day is coming soon,” Spears wrote in the post, which included a birthday cake emoji.
