Aldrin has been married and divorced three times, according to The Guardian. He married Joan Ann Archer in 1954. They divorced in 1974, and Aldrin was married to Lois Driggs Cannon from 1988 to 2012.
Aldrin has three children from his first marriage and one grandchild, The Guardian reported.
Aldrin was part of the Apollo 11 crew that traveled to the moon. Aldrin followed Neil Armstrong onto the lunar surface on July 20, 1969. Aldrin also flew on NASA’s Gemini 12 mission in 1966. He retired from NASA in 1971, according to The Guardian.
Armstrong died on Aug. 25, 2012. Michael Collins, the third member of the crew who circled the moon in the Apollo 11 command module while his crewmates walked on the moon, died on April 28, 2021.
He made three spacewalks as pilot of the 1966 Gemini 12 mission. As the Lunar Module Eagle pilot on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, he and mission commander Neil Armstrong were the first two people to land on the Moon
