Country crooner Jake Owen on Friday marked his 316th day without alcohol in a social media post that he said he hoped would encourage others who are thinking about quitting.
The “Made for You” and “1x1″ singer wrote, “317 days ago I embarrassed myself after drinking too much alcohol one night. It wasn’t the first time either.”
He said that after the experience, he told himself, “‘never again.’”
“I am better than that, and the people I love the most deserve better. My family, my little girls, and my friends,” the 40-year-old father of two wrote.
Owen shares daughter Pearl, 9, with his ex-wife, Lacey Buchanan, according to People. He has a 3-year-old daughter with his fiancée, Erica Hartlein, the entertainment news site reported.
He said that he wanted to share his sobriety journey “in case anyone woke up this morning and wants to make a change.”
“None of us are perfect,” he wrote. “I’m just trying to be the best version of myself these days.”
