The company announced this week that it will be adjusting its fuel surcharge tables effective April 4.

The adjustment itself is not out of the ordinary.

FedEx said it does weekly adjustments which are based on the price per gallon of various fuels.

You can see what the fuel surcharge will be starting April 4 using this chart.

For example, if the price of a gallon of jet fuel is between $2.51 and $2.56, then the surcharge that will be added to FedEx Express packages shipped domestically will be 15.50%.

Right now, the surcharge is 13.75% for the same service.

For FedEx freight sent domestically, the charge will be $0.444 per pound if the price of a gallon of jet fuel is between $2.51 and $2.56.

The surcharge is $0.416 right now.

FedEx ground fuel surcharges are based on a gallon of diesel fuel. If the price per gallon of diesel fuel is between $3.82 and $3.91, a 14.25% surcharge will be added.

Right now, the surchage is 12.50%.

Shippers can expect additional adjustments as FedEx reevaluates the rates frequently and can adjust them weekly, FedEx said.
