According to The Associated Press and Variety, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm, which produces the Disney+ series, said Wednesday that Carano, 38, “is not currently employed by Lucasfilm, and there are no plans for her to be in the future.”

The statement continued: “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The announcement came one day after Carano, who played Cara Dune, shared a post that “originated on a different Instagram account,” Variety reported. The text of the post compared how Jews were treated during the Holocaust to “hating someone for their political views” today, according to the AP.

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews,” read the post, which Carano later removed. “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Many social media users condemned the post using the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, the AP reported.

This isn’t the first time Carano has faced criticism for her posts on social media, according to the news agency. Some of her other posts derided face masks and mocked social media profiles that include gender pronouns, the AP reported.
