Angela Caravella, 51, of Kansas City, was preparing to return to her Missouri home when her flight was canceled, WTSP reported.

Caravella visited a Publix supermarket in the Tampa suburb of Brandon and bought several scratch-off tickets, including a $30 ticket for The Fastest Road to $1,000,000, according to a Florida Lottery news release.

“I had a feeling something bizarre was going to happen after my flight was canceled unexpectedly,” Caravella said in a statement. “I bought a few scratch-off tickets to pass the time and just like that -- I won $1 million.”

Caravella decided to take a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000, lottery officials said.

The Fastest Road to $1,000,000 was launched in February 2020 and features 155 top prizes of $1 million, lottery officials said.
