Michael Boatman, 41, of Spartanburg, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, public disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and resisting arrest, according to Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

According to the sheriff’s office, Boatman was observed walking on a Spartanburg road wearing no clothes except for “a clear bag over his genitals,” WSPA reported.

Deputies said Boatman ignored them, but when they caught up to him they observed he was carrying marijuana, the television station reported.

According to an arrest report, Boatman told deputies he was doing a “walk of shame” and needed to complete it for his wife. Boatman asked to complete the walk, but deputies refused the request, WSPA reported.

Boatman allegedly said he had to “keep going” and began to walk away, and then ran from deputies, the television station reported.

Deputies took him to the ground and arrested him. Boatman remains confined in the Spartanburg County Detention Center, according to online booking records.
