Philadelphia shooting: $20K reward offered in search for additional suspects after 7-year-old killed

PHILADELPHIA — Police are offering a $20,000 reward as they search for two suspects following the shooting death of a 7-year-old boy in Philadelphia.

According to KYW, Philadelphia police said on Tuesday that they are trying to find 27-year-old Damar Jones and 30-year-old Michael Banks after the boy, Zamar Jones, was struck Saturday during a shootout on North Simpson Street.

Police said Zamar Jones was playing on the porch when gunfire erupted about 7:40 p.m., WTXF and KYW reported earlier this week. The child, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, was rushed to a nearby hospital and died two days later, authorities said.

Police arrested Christopher Linder, 27, on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, WTXF reported. Authorities upgraded the attempted murder charge to murder after the child died, according to the news outlet.

Police said Linder was driving a Chevy Silverado down North Simpson Street when he began shooting at people outside a home. Police believe two men returned fire at the vehicle, which crashed into a GMC Yukon, WTXF reported. Linder then got into the Yukon and fled, police said, adding that they arrested him later when he came back for the Silverado.
