ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Police in North Carolina are looking for a suspect accused of stabbing another man during an incident at a bus stop on Tuesday.

According to a Facebook post by the Asheville Police Department, the victim was stabbed in the neck after an altercation with another man at a bus stop in Asheville at 5:30 a.m. EDT.

The suspect fled the scene, WHNS-TV reported. The victim refused medical treatment, and the injuries were considered to be non-life threatening.

According to police, the victim allegedly told officers that he had asked the suspect for a cigarette. The victim claimed that the suspect pulled out a knife and began swinging the weapon at him. The knife slashed the victim in the throat, police said.

Police said they did not have any other details about the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
