Super Bowl ads: John Travolta reprises ‘Grease’ song with pair from ‘Scrubs’

John Travolta will be appearing in a new Super Bowl ad for T-Mobile, which was released Thursday, People reported.

Travolta, 68, who starred in the movie “Grease” with the late Olivia Newton-John in 1978, will perform a new rendition of the hit song “Summer Nights” and will be joined by former “Scrubs” stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The ad will appear six months after Newton-John died at the age of 73.

In the new spot, the lyrics for “Summer Nights” are changed to plug the benefits of signing up with the wireless service provider, CNN reported.

Travolta’s sweet duet with Newton-John was a memorable moment in the film. In the new version, Travolta is joined by Braff and Faison, who provide different lyrics. Travolta, meanwhile, reprises some of the dance moves and poses from the Danny Zuko character he played in “Grease,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Braff and Faison told People they had never met Travolta but were big fans of the actor, who was nominated for Academy Awards as best actor in “Saturday Night Fever” (1977) and “Pulp Fiction” (1994).

“I had a ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’ lunch box,” Braff, 47, told the magazine, referencing the 1970s sitcom where Travolta played Vinnie Barbarino.

“Listen, I have a really hard time meeting other actors or peers and stuff like that,” Faison, 48, told the magazine. “I get excited for anyone and everyone, but I will tell you this: If you are in my top five, top 10, I’m going to go crazy. Travolta’s in my top five and I went crazy.”

T-Mobile is hoping that viewers will be hopelessly devoted to their product after its new ad runs during Sunday’s big game.
