LAS VEGAS — A judge on Friday sentenced a woman who pleaded guilty to pushing an elderly man off a bus in 2019, causing injuries that later led to his death, to between eight and 20 years in prison.
As part of a deal with prosecutors, Cadesha Bishop pleaded guilty late last year to one count of abuse of an older or vulnerable person resulting in substantial bodily or mental harm or death. She had initially been charged with open murder on an elderly-vulnerable person.
In exchange for her plea, prosecutors agreed to drop any other charges against Bishop and recommended the sentence handed down Friday.

In an arrest report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, witnesses said that Bishop began yelling profanities while on a bus on March 21, 2019. Serge Fournier, 74, told Bishop “to be nice to the passengers,” the newspaper reported. A short while later, police said Bishop pushed Fournier as he was getting off the bus. Authorities said Bishop then grabbed the hand of her young son, who was with her at the time of the incident, and left, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
Fournier hit his head on the concrete sidewalk about eight feet away from the bus and died a month later from delayed complications from blunt force trauma, KSNV-TV and KVVU-TV reported.
Authorities arrested Bishop in May 2019.
