None — Mobile Digital Television, more commonly called Mobile DTV, allows viewers to receive broadcast television signals on portable and hand held devices.
When broadcasters turned off their analog television signals back in 2009 digital television became the standard. While digital TV delivers exceptional video and audio there is a downside, the digital TV signal is difficult for moving antennae to receive.
Mobile DTV is a signal that broadcasters can, with the help of special equipment, use to transmit their programming to portable receivers. This signal can be picked up by receivers that are moving as quickly as 160 miles an hour. Viewers will be able to watch television on portable tvs, laptops, gps devices and even their smartphones.
While Mobile DTV receivers aren't widely available just yet there are some stations around the country, including WFTV Channel 9, who are already transmitting Mobile DTV signals.
