‘Wheel of Fortune’ returns for its 38th season with some minor changes

ORLANDO, Fla. — Wheel of Fortune fans have reason to celebrate -- the show is returning to the airwaves for its 38th season Monday.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White are back with the same great game and some new updates to the wheel.

The wheel has been redesigned to keep contestants and talent safe while taping episodes.

The redesign includes an updated set that features an extended platform surrounding the wheel to allow for 6 feet of space between Sajak and each contestant. Click here to see photos.

Producers upgraded the set as well, taking the opportunity to install an all-new curved monitor that surrounds the Wheel.

Each contestant will be given their own spinning cap, which Sajak has dubbed “the white thing." The cap fits over each spoke on the wheel so contestants can spin without personally touching the wheel.

The game itself remains the same except for one thing -- in honor of the show’s 38th season, the minimum amount that can be won on the bonus wheel is $38,000.

Watch the show at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 9.
