Osceola basketball loses in 7A title game

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Therrell Gosier Jr. had 27 points and eight rebounds to lead Pompano Beach Blanche Ely to a 72-60 win over Kissimmee Osceola in the Florida Boys Class 7A basketball championship game Saturday.
 
   Blanche Ely (28-0) stormed out to a 13-2 lead early in the first period and led 38-30 at halftime.
 
   But Osceola (26-6) started the second half with a 9-0 run that gave them their first lead of the game at 39-38. A dunk by Gosier Jr. gave Blanche Ely a one-point lead and the Tigers closed the period on a 9-1 run to take a 47-40 lead into the fourth period.
 
   The Kowboys got as close as 47-42 early in the fourth period but the Tigers hit 11 of 14 free throws down the stretch to close out the game.
 
   Javon Heastie had 21 points and five rebounds for Blanche Ely while LaQuincy Rideau added 10 points and six rebounds.
 
   Brandon Delvalle led Osceola with 20 points and nine rebounds while Orlando Martinez had 10 points before he fouled out.
