3:40 p.m. update
Zeta is expected to regain hurricane status Tuesday evening after weakening over northern Yucatan.
Cooler waters and some shear should keep the system from becoming a major hurricane as it makes landfall late Wednesday afternoon in southeast Louisiana.
This marks the seventh tropical system to impact the northern Gulf this year, and the eleventh to make a U.S. landfall, which is a record.
Zeta will become a hurricane again and impact SE Louisiana and nearby MS/AL and western FL panhandle on Wednesday.
