SpaceX sets new date to launch its 15th Starlink mission on from Cape Canaveral

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — SpaceX was set to launch its 15th Starlink from Cape Canaveral on Wednesday, October 21, but the mission was postponed until Thursday, October 22.

This mission was scrubbed on Thursday, due to “mission assurance”, said SpaceX.

SpaceX will attempt to launch the microsatellites on Saturday, October 24 at 11:31 a.m. If the mission takes off it will make the 3rd Starlink mission launched in one month, a new record for SpaceX.

The launch is the company’s 15th Starlink mission. The Falcon 9 rocket will carry at least 60 satellites to space. It is part of the goal to create a constellation network that will provide internet services to rural areas perhaps struggling with internet issues or don’t have reliable and affordable connections.

The rocket launch was scheduled for 12:14 p.m., from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station SLC-40.

This launch would have come 4 days after the company’s 14th mission, which lifted off from Cape Canaveral on Sunday. This would mark SpaceX’s 19th launch this year.
