10:30 p.m. update
Thirty minutes of rain and wind downed trees and wiped out power to Mount Dora on Wednesday afternoon.
By 10:30 p.m., the city was no longer in the dark, but the cleanup was still underway.

No one was hurt, but damage was reported in many parts of the city.
Across from Mount Dora City Hall two massive trees came down in the road and on parked cars.
City workers cleaned up trees and branches, after a fast but destructive rainstorm blew through around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
“It just brought some high winds, which affected some of our older trees in the city,” said Mayor Nick Girone.

Two of those trees fell at 10th Avenue and Donnelly, crushing three parked cars.
Girone said police, fire and city crews worked together immediately to shut down and clear streets.
“They're there. They're ready to respond. We deal with the issue and then we deal with the aftermath,” said Girone.
Storm damage blocked nine intersections and wiped out power to much of the city.
Longtime resident Ken Kerr was still filling trash cans 90 minutes after the rain stopped.

“I looked outside, and we had trees down and limbs down and everything,” said Kerr.
A block over from Kerr, the storm took down a power line and prompted a sign outside First Presbyterian Church, cancelling board game night.
“No power, no electricity, no air conditioning, so we decided to cancel it,” said pastor Tom Biery.
Biery said it's not his first time dealing with damage, and it won't be the last.
“We've done this before here with all the trees, which we love. But, that's what you have to deal with in Mount Dora sometimes,” he said.
