9 Investigates: Ocoee police officer under investigation

OCOEE, Fla. — 9 Investigates looked into the case of an Ocoee police officer accused by a driver of botching a crash investigation while under investigation for shooting up an innocent's family home.

The accident happened at Franklin and Maguire in Ocoee when one driver was making a turn in anticipation that the other driver would turn as well, but instead the cars collided.

Three reports were done on the accident and one of the drivers, Roy Skiles, said there are more questions about the Ocoee Police Department and its investigations.

Skiles said Officer Stephanie Roberts arrived at the accident scene, but didn't interview him or make a diagram of the crash.

The report was only a few lines long and Skiles said it had several mistakes in it. He said the insurance information and tow company showed it was incorrect.

"I would think being a law enforcement officer, they would be able to accurately write out a police report," Skiles said.

Skiles said he called Ocoee police and asked the officer to come back out. He said her second visit still deemed the accident his fault despite his recollection.

A corporal took over, and both drivers and more witnesses were interviewed. The corporal said some mistakes were made, including incorrect street names and the lack of a diagram.

The report still places Skiles at fault, but he questions that finding because of the mistakes made during the original investigation.

The Ocoee Police Department could not be reached for comment.
