Deputies: One person dead after plane crashes into Marion County lake

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE 3:25 p.m. :

• The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed one person has died.

• The Sheriff’s Office said that divers had recovered the body of one person from the lake and continues to search for other possible victims.

• Deputies ask that people avoid the area around Lake Wier as they continue their search.

1:45 p.m. :

• The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a small plane crashed into Lake Weir.

• Officials have not said if there are any injuries or what type of plane it was that crashed
