Deadline to request mail-in ballot in Florida is 5 p.m. Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — Across the United States there has been a surge in mail-in ballots this presidential election.

Here in Central Florida, election supervisors say their mailboxes are full.

If you live in Florida and are still considering that voting option, you have until 5 p.m. Saturday to request a vote-by-mail ballot,

According to the Florida Department of State website, “The deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed is no later than 5 p.m. on the 10th day before the election.”

Across the state and here in Central Florida, supervisors of elections are busy not just monitoring the boxes, but making sure the ballots will all be counted. They’re doing that by making sure signatures on the ballots are correct and letting people know they don’t have to deliver them by mail.

Voters can drive up to one of the dropbox sites and either drop off their ballot or hand it in.

You don’t have to use a mail in ballot, even if you requested one. Supervisors of elections say that if you change your mind, you can still vote in person early or on Election Day.

If you are voting by mail, you have to get your ballot sent out a week before the election, which would be Tuesday, October 27.
