Head lice drug could possibly be used to combat coronavirus, studies show

ORLANDO, Fla. — Researchers are testing whether a drug that treats head lice, could be useful in the fight against the coronavirus.

The latest surprising lead for researchers is an antiparasitic drug called ivermectin.

Preliminary studies have proven to be promising.

A group of scientists in Australia said the drug treats the virus just like a parasite, and could potentially block the virus from infecting healthy cells.

Additional testing is necessary to see just how effective, if at all, this could be during the pandemic.
